It is common in most Pakistani households to eat a few almonds in the morning as they work to improve human health and sharpen the mind, but are you sure of the quality of the almonds you eat daily?
Today we will tell you a few ways that you can learn about the quality of these nuts by considering and adopting them.
Physical appearance:
The first step towards judging the quality of almonds is to look at the appearance and color and texture, good quality almonds are brown and unblemished in texture.
If you notice a difference in color i.e. some places are lighter than others, or if the almonds appear darker, this may indicate quality issues.
Taste and aroma:
Almonds are usually sweet and crunchy in taste, if they have a bitter taste or are soft to chew, it is better to skip the almonds as this indicates the presence of certain chemicals such as phytic acid in the outer layer of almonds. A natural poison, high quality almonds are fresh, sweet and crunchy.
If the almonds smell, then understand that they are not edible.
Water Test:
Place the almonds in a bowl of water, if they are good quality almonds they will sink in the water, the almonds should sink to the bottom because they are heavy, if the almonds float, then the fruit is old or out of order.
What should be considered while buying almonds?
When buying almonds, be sure to check for any marks, especially black spots, always check the outer layer before buying almonds and avoid buying almonds with black spots as these indicate poor quality.
