Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken important steps to prevent the issuance of illegal SIM cards and has changed the conditions related to the functionality of duplicate SIM cards.
After the new changes made by PTA, the second new SIM will be issued and activated in 7 days instead of 8 hours, but the first new SIM will be issued and activated within 8 hours.
According to PTA, the duplicate SIM card or number will also be issued within 8 hours.
According to the PTA, the new Standards of Procedures (SOPs) for the issuance of new SIM cards will come into effect from January 24, 2024.
The decision has been taken to prevent users from issuing multiple SIMs a day and using fake fingerprints.
