Former South African captain Dean Elgar has claimed that former Indian captain Virat Kohli spat at him during a match after which he threatened Kohli.

Dean Elgar made this claim in a podcast on YouTube channel 'Betway South Africa' in which he was asked the question 'Have you ever had a fight with Kohli or Ashwin?'

In response, the former captain said, 'It was the first time Kohli and I had faced each other when we went to India to play two Test matches. Those Indian wickets were a joke. When I came to bat, I was holding my own against Ashwin and Jadeja. Kohli spat on me'.

Elgar said, "I abused Kohli and told him that if you do that again, I will hit you with the bat."

The former captain said in the podcast that when India toured South Africa in 2017 and 2018, Kohli apologized for his inappropriate behavior during the drinks break.

"Two years after the incident, Kohli said to me, 'Can we go for a drink after the series, I want to apologize for what I did,'" Elgar said.

He also said that 'When AB de Villiers came to know about this matter, he went to Kohli and asked why are you spitting on my teammates?'

It may be noted that AB De Villiers and Virat Kohli represent Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
